Webcasts (Podcasts and audio blogs)

Webcasts are the delivery of live or delayed sound or video broadcasts using web technologies.

Podcasts are audio files combined with RSS (Really Simple Syndication) and uploaded to a server. Listeners download podcasts using retrieval software so they can listen to it at their convenience on their own iPod or .mp3 player. (PALINET describes it well!)

Vodcasts (video webcasts) are currently not addressed by this wiki, but the actions and tools are very similar.
